All I've heard so far is a climbing death-toll. Yes, this is
something very pertinent to our discussions here. For those who haven't
seen pictures of the Corrulite dome-building party we did about 2.5 years
ago, you can see some pictures here:

We should start looking at doing a 2nd generation dome with
leak-sealant between the panels, possibly a wax-coated cardboard dome, like
the ones I did in college, and that David Martin just mentioned in another
post.
The other problem remaining to be solved is flooring. Domes are
nice and strong when they're anchored to something and their bottom edge
doesn't slide around. But if you just set it on the ground, it won't be all
that sturdy. To this end, having a simple floor that you can anchor (even
staple!) the dome to would be highly useful.
I've been mulling over some ideas for a hinged wooden framework
that could be unfolded and locked in place in the field (then it can pack
small for shipping) which you then lay down thin sheets of plywood over the
framework, to give a semi-permanent floor which you can attach the dome to.
Barring that, you could perhaps do a very temporary shelter where
the lower dome-edge is actually spiked into the ground with some sort of
rebar or tent poles or something.
This needs to be sorted out before we can deploy a realistic
solution. Otherwise, thousands of domes might just blow away in the first
strong wind!
