The Sundial Bridge (yes, it is a working sundial), Redding CA
Designed by Santiago Calatrava
It spans the Sacramento River, but does not touch it at all. The floor is translucent and lights up at night.
It really is beautiful, from any angle

Spitting distance from the Motel 66 in Eugene, OR, the train came by and blew its whistle every 30 minutes, all night long. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
Hwy 97, between Bend OR and California, hosted massive swarms of what one person called 'midges'. My car was so thick with them that I had to stop after an hour or so to clean the windows, because they looked like my license plate here. Poor midges.
