I forgot - there is another fellow, who contacted me about using 15' struts. I wished him well as 12' struts were about my limit without lifting equipment and help. Two friends helped me and I can honestly say that without them, I would probably still be working on it! Janet Snow used 10' struts which to me seem "manageable" for two people, or even one slow-paced careful person! But it does raise the question - what is the limit?? I think that with adequate bracing or even made of metal girders, it would be "Substantial"!

Try, http://www.strombergschickens.com<http://www.strombergschickens.com/<http://www.strombergschickens.com%3chttp//www.strombergschickens.com/>> and look for the "Starplate" reference. They suggest 8 to 9' 2x4's but I put up one with 12' 2x6's - apex of each triangle braced and it is solid! One of these days I'll send them photos of it's construction and maybe they'll post them as they have posted another shed that is being used as a cabin.
