Ask the inspection agency what company has the ASTM approval and then go from there. either that or go for a small conventional one. I went for a conventional one and still am chagrined at the space it takes!

Congratulation on the plumbing.
Too bad on the water heater. Perhaps that same heater is sold by someone
else who HAS received the ASTM approval. Where did you buy it?
Bosch Aquastar is an alternative, but likely higher priced.
Sal,
Yes. I looked into the Bosch - ouch $900 was my quote.....so it looks
like unless I can find a reference for the ASTM rating for the one I now have
from someone, I will most likely be going down the road of a conventional
electric hot water tank.
Even then I am going to have to buy a narrow (18" diameter) hot water
heater because that opening (door) is only 20" wide (rough framed) - UGH! Thats
Life!! LOL
