I'm getting caught up from a week away from email, so this thread may have
already been dealt with. But I'm gonna flap my banana-mashers a bit anyway.
I think this is a good idea. Maybe what's needed, though, is just a
drilling/bolting template, for making overlaps with no cutting, no
edge-joining. I think the strength of this approach comes from the
laminating that happens when you overlap the plywood. There really aren't
any vertices to measure, cut or join.
To finish the dome, maybe all you need to do is add one more layer of
shingle-overlap thin ply (if even that is necessary); Steve Miller would
know better than I would.
