Thanks for the link. I remember seeing this once before from you, once I went to the Web page. I think you are right about the size, it's a touch small for my car.
 
On the Dome list, there is a reference to building a Cardboard Dome. I think that I will enlarge this to the size I'm after and join all the panels with a fillet of Epoxy re-enforced with fibreglass tape, in the 'stich and glue' method I've previously mentioned, that is common in the Boatbuilding industry. If I use a slightly thicker sheet of ply and use the rotproof ply I've mentioned before I will only have to use a good paint on the outside to have a very durable frameless and self supporting dome. Of course I will have to re-enforce the very outside lip by glueing a 3x2 all the way around the perimeter, but it should work well.

Sorry no pictures for a while because of my antiquated equipment. You would
have to have a small car to use it for a carport. Like an Austin Mini.
